TRN Verification UAE
Check a UAE Tax Registration Number in seconds. Validate the format instantly, then confirm the registered legal name on the official Federal Tax Authority (FTA) tool before you pay VAT.
From 1 October 2026, verifying your suppliers is no longer optional. A single unverified TRN can cost you the right to reclaim the VAT on that invoice, permanently.

Enter a 15-digit number. If the format passes, continue to the FTA portal to confirm the registered legal name.
Exactly 15 digits. Spaces and dashes are removed automatically.
Paste a TRN to check the format.
This checks format only. Confirm the registered legal name on the FTA portal before you pay VAT.
Format check only. The FTA lookup is the authoritative test for registration and legal name.
What a TRN is
A Tax Registration Number (TRN) is the unique 15-digit identifier the Federal Tax Authority issues to every business or individual registered for VAT in the UAE. It was introduced on 1 January 2018 with the 5 percent VAT regime, and since 2023 it also serves as the identifier for Corporate Tax, making it the single tax identity for a UAE business.
Every valid TRN is exactly 15 digits with no letters, spaces or dashes. Many begin with 1 (often 100), but the leading digits alone are not proof of validity. A number can look perfectly formatted and still be unregistered, cancelled, or belong to a completely different company. That is why a format check is only step one, and the FTA lookup is the real test.
The TRN must appear on every tax invoice, credit note and VAT return. If a supplier charges you 5 percent VAT, their TRN has to be on the invoice by law.

How to verify a TRN on the FTA portal
The official check is free, takes under a minute, and needs no login or UAEPass account.
- 1.
Validate the format here first
Paste the number into the validator above to rule out typos and wrong-length numbers before you go further.
- 2.
Open the FTA tool
Go to the Federal Tax Authority verification page at eservices.tax.gov.ae and open the TRN Verification service. It is also linked from the FTA homepage.
- 3.
Enter the 15-digit TRN
Type or paste it exactly as printed on the invoice or certificate. A single wrong digit returns a false result, so copy and paste where you can.
- 4.
Complete the security check
Enter the captcha shown on screen.
- 5.
Read the returned legal name
A valid TRN returns the registered legal name in English and Arabic, plus the registration status. Match that name against the supplier on the invoice and against their trade licence.
How to read the result
A clean pass is only a pass if the name matches. Treat the result like this:
Valid, and the name matches the invoice and trade licence
Proceed. The number is live and tied to a registered taxpayer.
Valid, but the name does not match
Stop. A mismatch is a red flag. The TRN may be mistyped, or it may belong to another entity. Ask the supplier to reconcile before you release payment.
Not found or invalid
Do not pay the VAT. An invalid TRN on an invoice means the VAT is not recoverable, and paying it exposes you to compliance risk.
Note what the check does and does not do. It confirms the number is registered and returns the legal name. It does not vouch for the invoice amount, the goods, or the legitimacy of the transaction itself. Under the 2026 rules, those are now separate obligations (see below).
Why TRN verification matters more from October 2026
The stakes changed with FTA Decision No. 13 of 2026, issued on 22 July 2026 and effective 1 October 2026. It implements Article 54(bis) of the VAT Law, a provision added by Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2025.
In plain terms: a valid tax invoice is no longer enough to reclaim input VAT. Businesses now have to prove they verified both the supplier and the supply. If a transaction is connected anywhere in the chain to tax evasion and you failed to run the required checks, the FTA can deny your input VAT recovery, and that loss is permanent.
TRN verification sits at the heart of the new supplier-verification duty. You are expected to check a supplier's identity against official databases, confirm they are genuinely registered and operating, and repeat that verification at least every 12 months.

Verify at scale with an FTA-accredited platform
Checking one number by hand is quick. Checking every supplier, on every invoice, and re-checking them every 12 months, with an audit trail the FTA can review, is a different job.
Naqood is an FTA-accredited cloud accounting and e-invoicing platform built for UAE businesses. It stores supplier TRNs against their verified legal names, flags mismatches at invoice entry, and keeps the documented record the new rules require, so verification becomes part of your workflow instead of a manual task before every payment.

Is TRN verification free?
Yes. The official FTA check is free, instant, and needs no login. The format validator on this page is also free.
How many digits is a UAE TRN?
Exactly 15 digits, with no letters, spaces or dashes. Any other length is not a valid FTA-issued number.
Do I need a UAEPass account to verify a TRN?
No. The public TRN verification lookup requires no account. UAEPass is only needed for taxpayer services inside EmaraTax, such as registration, filing and refunds.
What happens if I pay VAT on an invalid TRN?
The VAT on that invoice cannot be recovered from the FTA, and the loss becomes permanent once the VAT period closes. From 1 October 2026, failing to verify a supplier can also cost you input VAT recovery on transactions linked to evasion.
The TRN is valid but the name is different. What do I do?
Pause the payment. A name mismatch is a red flag. Confirm you entered the number correctly, then ask the supplier to reconcile the details before you proceed.
Can a third-party tool replace the FTA check?
No. A tool can validate the format and speed up your workflow, but only the FTA's own lookup is authoritative for the registered legal name and status. Always confirm there.
