How to Easily Delete (Reverse) a Purchase or Fixed Asset Entry

This guide walks you through how to delete (or reverse) a purchase or fixed asset entry that was created by mistake. In the past, this process could be quite complicated — but we’ve made it super simple.

Note:

This guide does not apply to sales invoices. If you’re looking to delete a sales invoice, please follow this guide instead.

This guide also does not apply to manual journal entries. If you want to delete a journal entry, please see this guide.

Can You Actually Delete a Purchase Entry?

According to FTA and IFRS, you can’t just delete a posted transaction like it never happened. Your bookkeeping must follow a few key rules:

  • No two documents can have the same reference number.

  • Invoice numbers must be sequential (e.g., 1, 2, 3…).

  • There must be no gaps in your numbering.

This is exactly what our delete function is designed to handle for you, while keeping your books compliant.

What Happens When You Delete a Purchase in Naqood?

When you delete a purchase or fixed asset entry in Naqood, we automatically reverse it.

This means the original entry is still in your records, but it’s offset with a reversing entry, so the overall financial impact is zero.

The document number will still be used and cannot be reused, which helps ensure proper accounting records without needing manual adjustments.
